Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in the flour mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor and texture, try adding 1/2 cup of coconut flakes or 1 cup of chopped dried fruit along with the chocolate chips and walnuts. To make the cookies extra crunchy, bake them for an extra minute or two. For extra chewy cookies, bake them for a minute or two less.
