Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

4. Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk to butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
