Ingredients

2 cups Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

1. Place the chocolate chips in a medium-sized bowl.

2. In a small saucepan, heat the cream and butter over medium-high heat until it just begins to boil.

3. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips and allow it to sit for a few minutes.

4. Add the vanilla extract and stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

5. Pour the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and spread it out evenly.

6. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about an hour, or until the chocolate is firm.

7. Remove the baking sheet from the refrigerator and use a melon baller or spoon to scoop out small balls of chocolate.

8. Roll each ball between your hands until it is round.

9. Place the cocoa powder and chopped nuts in two separate bowls.

10. Roll each truffle in the cocoa powder or nuts, or both.

11. Place the truffles in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up.

Notes

These truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 2 months.

You can also use white chocolate or dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet chocolate for a different flavor.
