This Chocolate and Peppermint Bark is a great dessert to make with kids. Not only is it delicious, but it’s a fun activity to get them in the holiday spirit. Let them help you crush the peppermints, or have them help you spread the melted chocolate onto the baking sheet.

This particular recipe is a combination of both dark and white chocolate. The dark chocolate gives it a rich flavor and the white chocolate makes it sweet and creamy. The peppermint candies provide a lovely crunch and a wonderful peppermint flavor.

Ingredients

  • 10 ounces dark chocolate chips
  • 10 ounces white chocolate chips
  • ½ cup crushed peppermint candies

Instructions

1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Place the dark chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl and melt in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until melted.

3. Pour the melted chocolate onto the parchment-lined baking sheet and spread into an even layer.

4. Place the white chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl and melt in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until melted.

5. Pour the melted white chocolate over the dark chocolate layer and spread into an even layer.

6. Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies over the white chocolate layer.

7. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and allow to chill until firm, about 1 hour.

Notes

For a festive touch, sprinkle crushed candy canes or peppermint candies over the melted chocolate for a holiday-inspired bark. You can also add other festive toppings such as sprinkles, or chopped nuts.

For a fun twist, you can melt both the dark and white chocolate together and swirl the two together before spreading onto the parchment paper.
