Ingredients

For the custard:

- 4 cups of milk

- 1/2 cup of sugar

- 1/4 cup of cornstarch

- 4 egg yolks

- 4 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

- 2 tablespoons of butter

- Pinch of salt

For the Rafhan:

- 1/2 cup of chopped Rafhan

- 2 tablespoons of butter

- 2 tablespoons of sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish and set aside.

2. Make the custard: In a medium saucepan, heat the milk, sugar, and cornstarch until the mixture is hot and bubbling. Reduce heat to low and slowly add the egg yolks, whisking constantly. Continue to cook until the custard thickens, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate, vanilla extract, butter, and salt until combined. Pour the custard into the prepared baking dish.

3. Make the Rafhan: In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the Rafhan and sugar and cook until the Rafhan is golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and sprinkle the Rafhan over the custard.

4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the custard is set and the Rafhan is golden brown. Serve warm or chilled.

Notes

This custard can be served either warm or cold. For a more decadent dessert, try serving it with a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce. For a lighter option, try topping it with fresh berries or a dollop of yogurt.
