Ingredients

For the trifle you will need:

  • 1 package of ladyfingers
  • 2 cups of strong brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup of sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups of mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

To make the trifle, start by brewing two cups of strong coffee. Add the sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Let the mixture cool. In a separate bowl, beat together the mascarpone cheese and heavy cream until light and fluffy. Place a layer of ladyfingers in the bottom of a trifle dish. Sprinkle the ladyfingers with some of the coffee mixture. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers. Sprinkle with some of the dark and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Repeat the layers with another layer of ladyfingers and the remaining coffee mixture, followed by the remaining mascarpone cream and chocolate chips. Top with a layer of ladyfingers, then sprinkle with the chopped nuts. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

For a lighter version of this trifle, you can use reduced-fat ladyfingers and fat-free mascarpone cheese. You can also substitute the chocolate chips with your favorite candy or cookie. You can also use instant espresso powder instead of the brewed coffee.
