For the cake:
1/2 cup (100 g) butter, melted
1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup (120 ml) buttermilk
1/2 cup (50 g) cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

For the vanilla batter:
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup (30 g) all-purpose flour

For the glaze:
1/2 cup (60 g) confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x5-inch (23x13 cm) loaf pan with parchment paper and set aside.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking until combined. Whisk in the vanilla extract and buttermilk.

3. In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk until combined.

4. To make the vanilla batter, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined. Add the egg and vanilla extract and whisk until combined. Gradually add the flour and whisk until combined.

5. Pour half of the chocolate batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with the vanilla batter. Swirl the batters together using a knife or a toothpick. Pour the remaining chocolate batter on top and swirl again.

6. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

7. To make the glaze, whisk together the confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until combined. Drizzle over the cooled cake. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

- Make sure you don't overmix the batter or the cake will be dense.
- You can use a 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) pan instead of a loaf pan if desired. The baking time will vary depending on the size of the pan.
- If the glaze is too thick, add more milk, one teaspoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
