Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup Cadbury’s dark chocolate chips

For the buttercream:
  • 2 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips

For the decoration:
  • 1 cup Cadbury chocolate pieces
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three batches, alternating with the buttermilk. Beat until just combined. Gently fold in the Cadbury’s chocolate chips.

5. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. Let cool completely.
